In 1934 just before he graduated college he got his first book published.

In 1940 William Golding put his teaching dream on hold to fight in World war 2 -
In 1954 after 21 rejections Golding published Lord of the Flies -
His book Rites of Passage won the Booker McConnell Prize in 1980 -
In 1983 Golding was awarded the Nobel peace prize for Literature -
In 1988 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth the 2nd -
On June 19, 1993 William Golding died at age 81 due to a heart attack
