William Golding was born in 1911 on September 19th. He was born in Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall, England to Mildred and Alec Golding.

Willaim received early education at the school his dad (Alec) worked at. When William was 12 years old he tried and unsuccessfully wrote a novel. He was a very frustrated child and found somewhat enjoyment in bullying kids.

William went to Brasenose College, Oxford, where he studied natural science but soon devoted himself to English literature.

William became a teacher at Bishop Wordsworth's School in Salisbury and taught English and philosophy in 1935.
