Sir William Gerald Golding was born September 19,1911 in Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall, England. HIs mother Mildred was a supportor of the British Sufferage Movement. His father Alec was a schoolteacher.

William Golding began attending Brasenose College. He spend two years studying science even after his dad did not want him to study it. In his third year he decided to switch to literature following his true dream.
