What is a film distributor?
A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for the marketing of a film. The distributor may set the release date of a film and the method by which a film is to be exhibited or made available for viewing: for example, directly to the public either theatrically or for home viewing (DVD, video-on-demand, download, television programs through broadcast syndication etc.). A distributor may do this directly, if the distributor owns the theaters or film distribution networks. -

A production company, is a company that provides the fundraising for your film. They also manage budgeting, scheduling, production, scripting, post-production, distribution and marketing of the work. -
Our production company
Our production company is called 'Swing Studios', our logo is a girl, on a swing. It fits our production company name very well. Our animation on our logo is that the screen will turn from black to white very fast and on the black part, blood splatters will appear. This is very effective as our genre is a thriller. -
Is our film going to be worldwide? why? why not?
I dont think our movie is going to be worldwide, as it is a low budget film and all of our actors and actresses are British. We also thought that by just showing it around the UK, we can promote it more, so it can be very successful in the UK. -
Think about possible marketing strategies, release strategies and exhibition options.
The strategy we are going to use to release our film is taking it to the cinema. We are going to have a premiere located in London, Leicester Square, this will help advertise the movie more and increase the viewings. After the movie has been out in cinemas for at least 2 months, we will then release it on blu ray and DVD, 2 months later. We will also have movie posters to promote the film. Our film is targeted at (15-24) this a popular age, as most people that go to the cinema are this age. -
Our film distribution company
Our film distribution company is 'Entertainment one' they have distributed films like; Insidious 2 and The Hunger Games. These films are highly popular in the UK, this will help our film as by having the same distribution company, the viewers will recongise it and already know it will be good. -

There are many other distribution companies, that distribute many films, that become very popular, these include: 20th century fox, arrow films, artificial eye, axiom films, dogwoof, entertainment film distributors, icon film distribution, lionsgate, paramount pictures UK, Sony pictures, and Vertigo Films. -
Our film
The film we have created is a thriller, so we have researched other thrillers and who have distributed them. Entertainment one has distributed many thrillers that include: Insidious 2. The Orphan was distributed by Warner Brothers Pictures, this is a very popular company in the USA.
