    Fall of the Roman Empire

    German barbarian tribes like the Visigoths, Vandals, and Angels. Destroyed the Roman Empire and many burned and destroyed many cities in their wake. But in 476 C.E. one of the last Roman Emperors in the west. Was overthrown and Odoacer became the first barbarian and none Roman to rule Rome. After 1000 years of ruling Western Europe Rome was no more.

    The Crusades

    These were a series of wars fought between the Christians and Muslims. They were fighting over holy areas that were important to both sides. There were a total of 8 main Crusade battles that happened between 1096 and 1291.

    The Middle Ages (Dark Ages)

    The Middle Ages was the medieval period. That started at the fall of the Western Roman Empire and merged into the Age of Discovery as well as the Rennisance. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe became a Christian nation. And there were many struggles like the plague but many philosophers found new ways, ideas, and other things to help the world.

    The Renaissance

    A European period that focused on forwarding of art. It was also called the age of rebirth because the era before was called the dark ages. Many people now became educated. Some famous artist was Leonardo da Vinci who created revolutionary inventions and painted famous works like the Mona Lisa.

    Protestant Reformation

    This was a cultural, religious, political, and intellectual upheaval that divided the Catholic Church. Reformers such as Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Henry VII questioned and challenged the Church's Authority. Because of their ability to define Christian practices. They argued over power over the religious and political redistribution of power into the hands of Bible- and pamphlet reading pastors and princes.

    This took place during the 18th and 19th centuries in Europe where many rural workers moved to big factories. They worked in big specialized factories. Many were used to build a specific product by using tools and other basic machines. The Textile and Iron Industry and the steam engine played a huge central role in the revolution.

    NATO/Warsaw Pact

    During the World Wars and the Cold War, Europe was divided into two parts. 11 Western nations and promoted by the US they formed NATO. Which were anti-communist and wanted to get rid of it in all countries. Eastern Europe founded an opposing alliance, called the Warsaw Pact. That supported the spread of communism over of democracy.

  • Fall of Berlin Wall

    On August 31, 1961, during the Cold War, the Communist government of the German Democratic Republic. Began to build a giant barbed wired and concrete wall to split East and West Germany. But on November 08, 1991, thousands of people stormed the wall. And destroyed the wall uniting the Berlin into one country.

  • Collapse of the Soviet Union

    On December 25, 1991, the president of Russia, Mikhail Gorbachev resigned. Later that day the sickle flag lowered and was gotten rid of. And was replaced with the tricolor flag we have in the modern day. The next day, Boris Yeltsin became president and Russia became a newly independent Russian state.

  • Creation of the European Union

    The European Union is made up of the 6 inner countries of Belgium, France, West Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. It was formed because after the Second World War. There was a new movement to unite the countries of Germany and France which lay downed the foundation for the union 4 decades later.
