The Nobel Committee for Physics awarded Werner Heisenberg "for the creation of quantum mechanics, the application of which has, inter alia, led to the discovery the the allotropic forms of hydrogen." Heisenberg was awarded the prize a year late because the committee decided that, no one in 1932 met the criteria for the award. His work was a huge step in the nuclear field. -

Building on his Uncertainty Principle and forming matrices for quantum physics, he provided a huge contribution to atomic theory. After becoming a member of the Uranium Club, he worked to develop Germanys atomic bomb.
