  • Brown vs. Board

    The court fought to have non segregated classrooms. The fourteenth amendment assisted with the fight to prohibit integration. From then of fighting for the rights of students of different race and color there is now even more fight for all students to be treated equally.
    Having this law allows students to having the same chance for education no matter of any race, color, or ethnicity.
  • IDEA

    IDEA was amended in 1992, 1997, and in 2004. It provides the opportunity for students with disability to participate in the general education classroom along with nondisabled students. IDEA provides many aids and services under this act to assist with supplementary aids and services to each student.
  • Board of Education v. Rowley

    Students should be provided the appropriate needs and access to provide the most out of their education. If a child can understand better with a translator or brail textbooks. Students should be entitled to that access. The court inquired that IDEA has two parts. First to assure the state complies with the act, and the second to determine the students IEP is reasonably evaluated to benefit the child’s educational plan.
  • Honig v. Doe

    Honig v. Doe - A child with disability that caused disruption in the classroom that led to anger toward others. With the court ruling that a student cannot be removed from school if the inappropriate behavior is in result of their disability, but due process and IEP meetings would need to be followed to assess the situation. The court created what is known as the 10-day rule. This rule allows schools to suspend students up to 10 days without parental consent or court intervention.
  • FAPE

    Free Appropriate Public Education is free public education program that provides special education that provide expenses, supervision, and direction without charge to families while having to meet the standards of the SEA. With having this at schools all students are provided free breakfast and lunch regardless. This will benefit the students to keep their tummies full and minds able to concentrate on the lessons in the classroom.
