Salamanca Tree Hiddle is a very interesting name. The reason her parents named her this was because Salamanca was a name of an Indian tribe of her great-great-grandmother, Tree was because of her mom loved trees, and Hiddle because it was her last name.

Gram and Gramps always slept in this bed called the "Marriage Bed." This bed was passed down from Gramp's side of the family.

Sal writes a story in her journal talking about how once her mom ate some blackberries, and then her mom kissed a tree. Sal says that her mom left a "Blackberry Kiss."

Mr. Birkway, the teacher, read passages from his student's journals. He would cover up the name by a pieceof yellow paper. This made the class angry because everyone could tell who and what they were talking about.

Phoebe finds out that she has a mystery brother. Her mom had the kid with another man before she married Phoebe's dad.

It turns out that Mrs. Partridge was the one who was sending the envelopes. Even though she is blind, she has a big heart, so she wanted to give Phobe a few good quotes.

Grams always wanted to see Old Faithful in Montana. During the long drive to Idaho, she finally got to accomplish that dream.

Salamanca drives the car to where a bus crash later in the year. She realizes that her mom was on the bus sitting next to Mrs. Cadaver. Later in the same day, Gramp leaves a note saying that Gram has died.
