  • Constitution is ratified

    (only)White male adults that own property have the right to vote.
  • Religious qualifications dropped

    Religious requierments were eliminated
  • Property requirements dropped

    Property ownership and tax requirements were dropped alowing almost all adult white males to vote.
  • 15th Amendment

    The 15th Amendment is passed giving former slaves the right to vote and protects the voting rights of adult male citizens of any race.
  • 19-Amendment

    Guarantees women's suffrage(right to vote).
  • 23rd-Amendment

    Alows voters in the District of Columbia to vote in a presidential election.
  • 24th-Amendment

    Bans the poll tax making it no longer a requierment to vote in federal elections.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    Eliminates the literacy test and other barriersto voting protecting the rights of minority voters.Act was expanded and renewed in the years 1970,1975,and 1982.
  • 26th Amendment

    Sets the minimum voting age at 18.
