  • 1789 - Constitution is ratified

    only white males had the right to vote, less then 20% of the population at the time.
  • Religious qualifications dropped

    voting for religion is finished.
  • Property requirements dropped

    all white males can vote, does not matter if they own property or not.
  • 15th Amendment

    all male slaves now can vote and have citizinship in the United States.
  • 19th Amendment

    woman's suffrage. Meaning woman have the right to vote.
  • 23rd Amendment

    District of Colombia (DC) now have vote in elections.
  • 24th Amendment

    bans the poll tax, don't have to pay to vote.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    protects rights of voters, elimantes Literacy Test
  • 26th Amendment
