  • Constitution is ratified

    Only white male property owners could vote.
  • Religious qualifications dropped

    Last religious prerequisite for voting is eliminated.
  • Property requirements dropped

    Connecticut had a literacy test to be able to vote. Test was to discriminate Irish-Catholic immigrants.
  • 15th Amendment

    The 15 amendment decalred black slaves to vote and it also protectecd all male citizens to be able to vote.
  • 19th Amendment

    It Guranteed the womens suffrage which was giving the women more power to themselves and the right to vote.
  • 23rd Amendment

    The 23rd Amendment allowed voters of the District of Columbia to be able to vote for there president.
  • 24th Amendment

    24 amendment bans the poll tax for the federal elections.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    Dr. MLK Jr. created a voter registration drive in Alabama to fight for the African-American voting rights.
  • 26th Amendment

    This amendment set the voting legal age limit at 18 years old.
