  • 1789 - Constitution is ratified

    Only white men, who owned land were alowed to vote.
  • 1810 - Religious qualifications dropped

    People religion requirement was not necesery to vote any longer.
  • 1850 - Property requirements dropped

    Men did not have to pay taxes or owne any property, alowing almost all men to vote.
  • 1867 - 15th Amendment

    Alowed former slaves to vote as well as protected the ridgt to vote for any slaves.
  • 1920 - 19th Amendment

    The 19th Amendmet garenteed all women suffrege.
  • 1961- 23rd Amendment

    Gave voters of the District of Colombia to paricipate in presidential elections.
  • 1964- 24th Amendment

    Bands the requirement of poll tax, for voting in a federal election.
  • 1965 - Voting Rights Act of 1965

    Protcted the right of the minority voters and eliminates any barriers for them. The act was later expandedn and renewed in 1970, 1975, and 1982.
  • 1971- 26th Amendment

    Made the the age requierment of 18 in order for peple to vote.
