Voting Rights in the United States

    Only white male property owners could vote.

    Almost all white men could vote. They didn't need property.

    Former slaves could now vote, as well as most men of any race.

    Women can now vote.

    The people of Washington DC can now vote.

    You don't have to pay taxes in order to vote.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    It eliminated voting barriers, like the lliteracy test.
