13th Amendment
This was an important event because it ended slavery of the African American people and lead them to more freedoms. One of the freedoms that they were going to gain was the right to vote. -
15th Amendment
This event was important because it gave males the right to vote, this was important to the African American males. This event lead to the women gaining the right to vote. -
Laws to take Voting Rights from African Americans
This event is important because it showed how some states did anything that they could to keep African American people from voting. This also lead to other ways to keep people from voting. -
Supreme Court Rules the Literacy Test Unconstitutional
This event is important because the test was unequal according to the skin color of the individuals who wanted to vote. This event led to other laws being ruled as unconstitutional. -
Supreme Court Rules "Grandfather Clause Unconstitutional
This event was important because most African American people were slaves so a majority of them were unable to vote. It was also important because even if their Grandfathers could vote there was no way of proving it. -
19th Amendment
This Amendment was important because it allowed voting rights to women. This Amendment increased the voting participation tremendously. -
Supreme Court Rules that Poll Taxes are Unconstitutional
This event was important because it gave people who had a very low income to participate in the voting elections. This event leads to the 24th Amendment. -
