  • 19th amendment

The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote. This protects voting rights because it removes the classification that one must be male to vote, and thus allowing women their natural right to vote.
  • Indian Citizenship Act

This act gave all Native Americans full citizenship and the right to vote. This protects voting rights because it does not allow the abridging of the right to vote to Native Americans, allowing them their basic right.
  • McCarren Walter Act

The McCarran-Walter Act granted all Asian-Americans the right to become citizens, and in turn to vote. This protects the right to vote by not prohibiting some classes of Americans from voting and allowing all citizens to vote.
  • 23rd Amendment

  • 24th Amendment

The 24th amendment protects those who are living in poverty by making it illegal for any poll tax payments for any federal elections. This protects the right to vote by preventing states from blocking the right of impoverished people to vote since they otherwise would not be able to with poll taxes.
  • Voting Rights Act

The voting rights act (VRA) was passed in 1965. It removed all barriers that prevented African Americans from voting. It also prevented states from requiring literacy tests and other non-direct forms of preventing African Americans from voting. • VRA Reauthorization

The Voting Rights Act was reauthorized making it permanent. This means that literacy tests and other restrictive tests are banned. Additionally voting materials are to be translated for language-minority citizens. This protects voting rights by removing the potential for people who have English as a second or third language to be stopped from voting. This allows for a better representation of a minority in politics and increases their voting power.
  • Voting Accessibility for Elderly and Handicapped Act

The Voting Accessibility for elderly and Handicapped Act mandates that polling places are accessible for the elderly who have a hard time moving and those who are disabled. This protects voting rights by ensuring that physical limitations cannot stop or prevent people from voting, allowing all to vote if they want regardless of their physicall conditions.
