  • A.S. Douglass creates Tic Tac Toe ( OXO )

    In 1952, for instance, British professor A.S. Douglas created OXO, also known as noughts and crosses or a tic-tac-toe. The game was programmed on an EDSAC vacuum-tube mainframe computer. Therefore, that marked the first graphical computer game.
  • Willy Higinbotham Creates Tennis for Two

    Willy Higinbotham creates a tennis game on an oscilloscope and analog computer for public demonstration at Brookhaven National Laboratory in 1958. It received further attention as the subject of articles in Creative Computing and Video Replay in 1982 and 1983 highlighting its possible status as the first video game. It was a huge successor to games in the future such as "Pong."
  • Spacewar!

    MIT student Steve Russell invents Spacewar!, the first computer-based video game. Russell wrote his game on a PDP-1, an early DEC interactive mini computer which used a cathode-ray tube type display and keyboard input. By the mid-sixties, when computer time was still very expensive, Spacewar could be found on nearly every research computer in the country.
  • PONG!

    Nolan Bushnell and Al Alcorn of Atari develop an arcade table tennis game, Pong! People who went to arcades broke the game, because it was played so much. It bursted to become a game phenomenon.
  • Atari 2600

    Atari releases the Video Computer System, the Atari 2600. It features a joystick, interchangeable cartridges, games in color, and switches for selecting games and setting difficulty levels. It was a worldwide phenomenon just like Pong.
  • Uh-Oh, it's Mario!

    Video game fans go ape over Nintendo’s Donkey Kong, featuring a character that would become world-famous: Jumpman. Better known as Mario. The name was given when his creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, makes him the star of a later game by Nintendo.
  • Gameboy!

    In 1989, Nintendo invented the Gameboy! Nintendo's Game Boy popularizes handheld gaming. Game Boy is not the first handheld system with interchangeable cartridges, but it charms users with its good game play, ease of use, and long battery life.
  • Legend of Zelda

    In 1998, the Legend of Zelda was born. The game features such as the main characters Link and Zelda. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time transports players to the richly imagined world of Hyrule, full of engaging characters, thought-provoking puzzles, and the most memorable musical instrument to ever appear in a video game.
  • Game Override

    In 2004, the first Xbox was made. And soon later, many different consoles were introduced such as : the Nintendo DS, Wii, Xbox 360, and the Playstation. All of which have become popular amongst gamers and even sparked many popular games today such as : Super Smash Bros and The Sims.
  • Sky is the Limit

    Ever since the 10's decade started, Video Games have been on an uproar. New games such as Minecraft and Pokemon GO which are global hots have been generated. Also new consoles such as PS4, 3DS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Wii U have been developed. Graphics and so much more have advanced to what video gaming is now today.
