    The "Brown Box" was made by Ralph H. Baer a german-born american who turned regular television sets into a magical world full of adventure and fun. This was a prototype for the Odyssey.
  • Magnavox Odyssey

    Magnavox Odyssey
    Magnavox Odyssey was invented by Ralph Baer it's prototype was the "Brown Box." the compony sold 100,000 consoles in the same year it was released. It was like a lot of board games in one "package." By the next new odyssey came out they made 350,000 sales.

    It is an updated Magnavox Odyssey. It has two games those games are hockey and tennis. The three knobs are for horizontal movement, vertical movement, and ball trajectory. It ran on a 9 volt AC adapter, or 6 c batteries.

    There were a lot of odysseey consoles in the 1970s and 80s and those were all the same but updated a little each time. The skipped from 500 to 2000 and picked up there. The picture to the left is of a Odyssey 4000, there was a Odyssey 5000 prototype which had basic shooting games.

    This was the first game console to capitalize on a game cardridge that had the games code. It was a great success with games such as Space Invaders, Breakout, Combat, and Missle Command.

    This console was made by Mattel to rival the Atari 2600, and it did because it made over three million sales, and a total of 125 games were released for it.

    Retailers were skeptical about the new console because of the video-game crash. It managed because of what you could play on it. Titles like Super Mario Brothers, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, and strict lisencing policy that encourages high quality third-party game devlopment (Final Fantsy and sport games).

    Created by a Japanese game company called SNK. It was a cartridge based game. Once it was only aloud for rent for hotel chains, bars, restaurants, etc. Game pro gave it a "thumbs up" for a review in 1993.

    It was a blobal success and the best- selling console of the 16-bit era. Made by Nintendo (obviously) and it was cardridged based game console. They decided to make a new console to when they saw there dominace in the market slipping.
  • Playstation

    This was the first game console made by Sony which marked the arrival of the most popular console of the 32-bit era. Since it used a cd for a game, it's price dropped from the normal game cardrage.
  • Nintendo 64

    Marking the last mass-market system to use cartridges. Even though it was more expensive it did not have as long of loading screens as Playstation did. Games include GoldenEye 007, Legend of zelda: Orcarina of Time, and Super Mario 64.

    The first 128-bit system released by Sony. It has a feature called backwards compatability which means you can play 32-bit games on it. You can also use it like a DVD player. It had the Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy series

    This console was made by microsoft, this was there first independent "attack." this console had to compete with the Playstation 2. It had/has a better performance compared to the Playstation 2.

    This next step in Game Boy's evolution. It is back-wards compatible it can play games from the game boy and game boy color portable consoles =. It has over 32,000 colors and LCD screen.

    It is the second console in the xbox series microsoft has produced. It has to compete with the Wii, and Playstation. It has online service known has Xbox Live, where you can make friends, message people, and buy or get games.

    It was the first console to feature a remote that was wireless. It is backwards compatibility with the Game Cube. It lead it's generation over the PS3 and Xbox 360 in world wide sales.

    It hoped to beat it's opponents because of it's graphics. It was the first console to use blu-ray discs.

    The releasers, Sony, hoped it would be the world's most powerful console. In 2014 it topped the global console sales. Game developers said the difference between the PS4 and XBox One were "obvious."

    Microsoft and other publications said it was an "all-in-one entertainment system." It stresses a lot on cloud computing and entertainment intergration. After it's offical release it got mixed feedback some people liked it others didn't.
