  • Ven's Progress in School: Industry vs.Inferiority

    Progress reports come out and Ven excelled in math and science, but struggling with reading and writing, however with her parents and teachers encouragement, she continued to try her best with all subjects rather than let it discourage her. In Erikson's fourth stage of industry vs. inferiority, children are becoming more self-directed and with encouragement can gain a sense of competence and industry, or if they are criticized and fail, they gain a sense of inferiority instead.
  • Ven's Friends: Identity vs Role Confusion

    Ven was hanging out with her one main friend, Emil, and is aware that she's not popular or has many other friends like everyone else, but she has come to be okay with cherishing the friends she does have, rather than insecure. In Erikson's fifth stage, identity vs role confusion, teens explore more about themselves try to find their role in their world (identity) or otherwise remain uncertain about themselves (role confusion).
  • Ven's Initiative: Intimacy vs Isolation

    Ven worked up the courage to ask for Emil's hand in marriage, to which Emil happily agreed. They've been together for years and Ven is ready to continue to be together with Emil for the rest of their lives. In Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy vs isolation, this time period focuses on forming close, loving relationships, or otherwise falling into loneliness and isolation.
