    World War 1 was caused by nationalism and the growth of german powers. The spark that set off World War 1 was the murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria Hungry. Austria Hungry declared war on Serbia. International competition amoung European powers for colonies and economic markets. These events sparked this time in our history.

    World War One finally came do an end when the German surrendered and the siggning of the armistic on November 11, 1918. There were about ten millioin deaths of soilders. The Treaty of Versialles was in 1919.

    Overthrowing Tsar Nicholas
    In 1917 a revolution force the tsar, Nicholas II, to give up the throne. Enemies named him Bloody Nicholas because of his violent suppression of the 1905 revolution. Later in the year, rebels led by vladimir Lenin took control of the government.In 1918 Lenin's government made peace with Germany but executed the tsar and his family. Later in 1922, the russian empire was renamed the soviet union.

     Hoovervilles and Stock Market
    Hoovervilles were named after President Hoover from Iowa. He was President during the Great Depression. It wasn't his fault, but Americans thaught it was. Hoovervilles were houses made out of anything the could find. They tended to be in areas with other types of these houses. They had to do this because they couldn't pay off the rint in their old houses so they were kicked out. For these types of homes they used boxes, wood, plastic, etc.

    Roosevelt's new deal was social security. It was supposed to be temporary, butpeople liked it so much they kept it. Social security is any government system that provides monetary assistance to people with an inadequate or no income.

    In August 1945 Russia declared war on Japan and invaded land that Japanese had conqured. This was when North and South Korean were one. During the war. Nrth Korea and South Korea divided.

    In August 1991 the Cold War ended. Lithuania, Poland, and Hungary became independent, the Berlin Wallwas demolished, and the communist government falls in Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and Romaina. Germany also reunited.
