  • She was born in Russia (URSS)

    She was born in a town called "Bolshoye Máslennikovo", in the middle of Russia.

  • Her father died

    Her father died in the WW2 when he was driving a tank in the "Winter War".
    Before that, her father was a tractor driver.
    When he died Valentina was 2 years old.

  • She started the school.

    When she started the school, her mum was a textil worker. In 1953 she left the school. But she followed her studies by correspondence courses.

  • Valentina did her first jump in skydiving.

    She was interested for the skydiving. And this day she jumped to the sky in the Local Aeroclub.
    In this time she was a textil worker like her mother.
    From this experience she would chosen in the space mission.

  • Tereshkova joined at the "U.Y.C.".

    She was the secretary of this famous "Union of Young Communist" in the URSS. This union taught her knowledge about politic.

  • Valentina Tereshkova was selected to go to the space.

    Of the 400 candidates, only five could be selected. The cosmonauts needed to be: tall, young, weigh a little and be a woman. And Valentina was one of them.

  • The "seagull" in the Vostok 6.

    She was 26 years old, and she travelled to the space this date in the Vostok 6, with the space program "Vostok". When Valentina Tereshkova arrived in the space, her first signal to the Earth was "Chaika" (Seagull). In this moment, she was the first woman to travel to the space. She suffered a lot of discomforts, common in this travels. She was three days in the space, in this time she orbited around the Earth a total of 48 times.

    Tereshkova get married with "Adrián Nikoláyev". But in 1982 she get divorced him.

  • Tereshkova had a child.

    Valentina had her first and unic daughter called "Yelena Adriánovna Nikoláyeva-Tereshkova".
