  • Vietnam declares independence

    Ho Chin Minh, president of Vietnam, declares independence for his country.
  • U.S. Military Aid French Indochina

    The French refused to accept Vietnam's independence, so the France launched attacks on Viet Minh strongholds, killing some 6,000. The following month, Vietnam attacked back. This caused U.S. Military Aid french Idochina.
  • Battle of Dien Bien Phu

    Viet Mihn launch Fa surprise attack on a large French military base at Dien Bien Phu.
  • Geneva Accords

    This was an agreenment by the French and the Viet Mieh to cut Vietnam at the 17th parallel.
