    Signed in an attempt to achieve peace, along with the League of Nations. This ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers. Signed at the end of World War I.
  • Beginning of the Great Depression

    sourceInitial stock market crash. During this time period of about 10 years, suicide and crime rates soared, while America was sinking deeper into economic decline. The American people blamed Hoover, because the depression immediately followed his inaugration.

    source.WWI Veterans banded together to demand more funds for veterans by Hoover. Congress had awarded veterans $1000 certificates, but they wanted more.
  • Pearl Harbor

    In response to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The US had frozen all Japanese assets, and tried to put a stop to Japanese expansion. The United States had been able to decipher Japan's radio transmissions, but Japan managed to secretly bomb Pearl Harbor, killing almost 3,000 Americans.

    Lasted about 45 years. Caused by a plethora of reasons, including USA's fear of communist attack, Russia's Soviet actions & America's refusal to share nuclear secrets.
  • I Have a Dream

    MLK delivered his I Have a Dream speech for civil rights. He and Rosa Parks were a few of the many civil rights activists during the 1960's. He was murdered a few years following this speech.

    Most legal racial descrimination had been abolished, leading activists to target the people's discrimination. In result to the civil rights acts and rallies of the prior years.
  • Ceasefire for the Vietnam War

    Nixon called a ceasefire and troops were pulled out. A peace treaty was signed, which lead to the Paris Peace Accord.

    Reagan begins his term, soon to be filled with a series of successes and failures, including Reaganomics and a failed assassination attempt. Reagan was dubbd the "Great Communicator" during his term.
  • Internet becomes available for public use.

    Internet becomes available for public use.
    Source. // The internet had been developed years earlier by the Department of Defense, intended for military uses in communication. The government ceased control over it in 84, leaving it open to the public. The world wide web is a big part of American globalization.
  • Exxon Valdez

    Source. > Oil spill that, in combination with other factors, led environmentalists to believe global warming and rain forest dwindling was imminent.
  • Clinton gets impeached.

    Bill Clinton becomes the second president ever to be impeached, after a hugely public sex scandal. Clinton was never hugely popular, but this was somewhat of a surprise after the success of the economy and such during his term.
