  • The Great Upheaval

    The Great Upheaval
    http://www.ushistory.org/us/37a.aspRailroad workers in Martinsburg, West Virginia were upset about their company's desicion to cut their pay for the second time in less than eight months. Workers tried as hard as they could to prevent the trains from reaching their destination and they succeeded. Only one train reached its destination. This strike created a domino effect to other railroad companies like Pennsylvania and Reading Railroads. The Great Upheaval was the first mass strike that included workers from all over the country

  • US in Panama

    http://www.encyclopedia.com/topic/Panama.aspx The US intervened in Panama because they wanted to create a canal that would provide easy access from the west coast to the east coast. Although panama has control over the canal, the US can still operate it.
  • World War I

The US largely contributed to the allied forces with their endless army (thanks to the draft) and support from back home. The treaty of Versailles ended the war. There had been so much civilan damage that it took most European countries years to recover.

The discovery acted like a window into the past showing cultural and physical differences that present day men had not known of before. Because of the discovery in 1922, more people throughout the world can see into the past lives of the ancient Egyptians.

Many americans were left without jobs or money as the economy continued to struggle. The economy began to get better in 1933 but it took at least a decade for the US to fully recover.

The groups that were targeted were Jews, Homosexuals, Handicaps, Gypsies ect. The horrors that happened in the concentration camps still haunt families today.
  • Pearl Harbor

    http://www.pearlharboroahu.com/ The Attack on Pearl Harbor started the US participation in WWII. The Japanesse bombed Pearl Harbor so that the US could not use their naval fleets to invade Japan. Poor communication between the Navy, Army, the commanders in Hawaii, and the Commanders in Washington is what made the suprise attack possible. This also sparked the "relocation centers" for Japanesse citizens in the US. They were like concentration camps.
  • Berlin Airlift

    The Berlin Airlift was one of the first events during the Cold War. America was just trying to deliver supplies to the people in Berlin but they were blocked. The US did manage to get around it, in a symbolic way, destroying communism.

The point of the Civil Rights Movement was to allow blacks to have the same rights as whites. The main leaders in the Civil rights movement were Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcom X.

    The Vietnam war was the longest war in american history, (20 years) and cost close to 55,000 US lives. It was mostly fought in South Vietnam, North Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. The US citizens were very divided on whether this war was productive or not.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was short but important. If not for the secret compromise between the US and the USSR, our whole world could have gone into a nuclear battle.

    Communist governments began to resign all throughout Europe. The Berlin wall was torn down and the soviet union collapsed.
  • Clinton's Presidency

    Bill Clinton served as a president in 1993-2001. Clinton was very popular with the people. He had one of the highest approval ratings out of all the presidents. He did a lot of good for the US, like providing them millions of jobs and inproving the economy. He got in a lot of trouble for having an affair with an intern.

Extremely tragic for the animals, vegetation, and surrounding land, the oil spill didn't only cause havoc and saddness. Because of the oil spill, scientists were able to learn better ways to prevent and protect from future oil spills. The oil spill is an example of how we can learn from the past.
