  • The Massacre at Sand Creek

    -Sand Creek was a village with around 800 people.
    -The territory was promised that they wouldn't be disturbed, but later found out that was a lie.
    -Colorado volunteers killed around 400 people mostly women and children
  • Treaty of fort Laramie

    -Temporary end to the hostilities
    -big parts of land was given back as Sioux and Cheyenne Territory by the United States Government.
    -The peace was short-lived
  • The great Upheaval

    -many working came together to restore their pay
    - boycotting the railroads demanding no trains would leave
    -Many other people who were protesting, still got involved
    -Only one train reached it destination
    -Somewhat successful because the workers needs were met
  • Selective service act

    All males between the ages of 21 and 30 were required to register for military service.   • League of Nations

    League of Nations
    The League of Nations was an international diplomatic group developed after World War I as a way to solve disputes between countries before they erupted into open warfare. Creating more peace and less violence. Started in 1920 and founded over 50 members but later ended in 1946
  • The rust of immigrants

    -after many rules with allowing immigrants in, the doors were shut to many outsiders based on ethnicity.
    -many different people have already come in, therefore staying there contributing to the country by bringing in new cultures and traditions.
  • The great crash

    Although the 1920s were marked by growth in stock values, the last four years saw an explosion in the market. In 1925, the total value of the NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE was $27 billion.   • The New Deal

    The New Deal itself created millions of jobs and sponsored public works projects that reached most every county in the nation. In 1939, the unemployment rate was still 19 percent, and not until 1943 did it reach its pre-Depression levels. For the first time in peacetime history the federal government assumed responsibility for managing the economy.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Japanese attack against Pearl Harbor in the United States Territory of Hawaii, effectively signaled America’s entry into World War II.The attacks at Pearl Harbor ultimately failed to achieve their primary objectives.     Cold War

    In 1945, one big war ended and soon after another began. The Cold War lasted 45 years. There were no direct military campaigns between the two main antagonists, the United States and the Soviet Union. Yet billions of dollars and millions of lives were lost in the fight.   • V-E day

    V-E day
    The Allied forces of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the Soviet Union had forced the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany.   • United Nations

    United Nations
    The UN was created on October 24 1945 with originally 51 members and has grown up to 193 to this day.   • Rosa Parks

    Rosa was tired after spending the day at work. She stepped onto the bus for the ride home and sat in the fifth row — the first row of the "COLORED SECTION." After Parks refused to move, she was arrested and fined $10.   • The Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War
    The American War with Vietnam was a conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. China had become communist in 1949 and communists were in control of North Vietnam. The USA was afraid that communism would spread to South Vietnam and then the rest of Asia.   • Ronald Reagan

    Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the U.S from 1981-1989. He gave Americans hope and confidence that they were great and followed through with his promises on cutting down the income taxes, government spending budget, and maintaining low interest rates.   • Ending of the Century

    American popular culture was everywhere. Levi's jeans, Coca-Cola, McDonald's, and Hollywood movies were enjoyed around the world. When the Soviet Union collapsed, the United States was the only remaining military superpower, and the world looked to Washington for leadership.   • Bill Clinton

    Bill Clinton
    Bill Clinton served as the 42nd president of the U.S from 1993 to 2001. He had promised new ideas and a break from the twelve years of Republicans in the White House as well as being one of the first presidents to balance the budge making the country want more from him and reelecting him.   • Anti-globalization protests

    From November 30 – December 3, 1999 there were a series of protests surrounding the WTO conference.The Conference was to be the launch of a new millennial round of trade negotiations. The negotiations were quickly overshadowed by big street protests outside the Trade Center. Thousands of people came together to protest and demand a change. Many were harmed and put into jail from these protest.
