    The Details of Little Bighorn
    The Battle of Little Bighorn was the result of growing tensions between the Native Americans and the new Westerners. The Westerners were trying to expand their land by cutting into the Indian reserves. The Indians didn't like this and responded through the Battle of Little Bighorn. It was an outstanding victory for the Indians resulting in the Indian Reservations we have today.

    The Harlem Renaissance was a movement from the Black community to show their culture to the world. It brought about a great age of Jazz and art in the community of Harlem. This could not be contained however, jazz was soon found in almost every dance club. It also helped to integrate African Americans into a white racist society.

    We invaded Cuba sometime around this date. We did so to both to save them from Spain and other large countries around the area, and to add onto America's economy.

    Communism was the practice of having no social, money, or class statuses. It sounds like a completely fair world but it isn't. If you have something your neighbor doesn't, then you may e arrested and either brainwashed or killed.

    The Panama Canal was not even supposed to happen. There was a need for a passage through the Americas, but the planned passage was through Nicaragua. But it was all sorted out in the end, and now it is much easier to travel by boat from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

    The Lusitania was a British cruise ship. It had just come from New York very recently when It was torpedoed by a German U-boat. There were more than 100 Americans on the cruise liner, making up more than 10% of the people on board. It also had over 4 million rounds of ammunition.

    At the time, this was called "The War to End All Wars." This was a war that totally engulfed the world. It started with the Russians murdering an Archduke in Europe. The U.S. only got involved after 100 Americans were killed on the Lusitania after it got torpedoed by a German u-boat.

    The Great Depression was a decade of absolute poverty. The stock market crashed on what was called Black Tuesday, and it all went downhill fast. People lost all the savings in their banks, and many more even lost their jobs. It started a dark spot on Americas past that cannot be erased. Unemploymetn was raised to over 12 million out of work.

    Pearl Harbor was a suprise attack from Japan. It destroyed eight battleships and killed 3,000 people. They used a special kind of torpedoe they dropped from a plane that skimmed on top of the water. This was a necessity because Pearl Harbor was too shallow for regular torpedoe attacks.

    World War 2 was the bloodiest and most disturbing war thus far. America sent in millions of soldiers. And many of those died or were seriously wounded during the fighting. The concentration camps were the worst part of this war. Hitler gathered up all the Jewish, Gays, and whoever else he wanted and threw them in a camp where they worked for very little food. The only thing that ended this war was the might of the atom bomb.

    The Red Scare was just a great deal of mistrust between America and Soviet Russia. America was afraid that communism was going to be widespread in America, so they were afraid of every move the Soviets made. We even discriminated on our own land, afraid of any previous Soviets in our society.

    Racism is the feeling of superiority from the rest of the world based on a person's skin tone. This racism was especially bad towards the Black of early America. They had almost no freedoms after the civil war, and the whites liked it that way. So in the 1950's, things started to change.

    Flower Power was the belief of the Hippie's in the 1960's. They believed that the previous generation was wrong about handling sex, drugs, and marriage as they did. The younger people belived in living with their partner before being married. They also believed that war was bad, and that we should spread love not war.

    The Internet was created in 1970. It was made so that the people of the military could communicate quickly if there was a threat to America. This was far faster than the old ways to relay messages. The Internet remained under Government control until 1984. It was then released to the public and has made peoples' lives easier ever since.

    The internet was released from Government control in 1984. The people of America could use it now, but the modems all had to be upgraded so it was very slow. The internet was a big hit for americam households because all you needed was a phone line to hook into. The only problem was that computers were very pricey.

    E-mail was created to improve communication speed. What would normally take weeks to be delivered by the postal service now took minutes through E-Mail. The military created E-Mail so that they could convey messages at blinding speeds if America were in danger.

    Operation Deset Storm started as a more peaceful war. It was Operation Desert Shield because it was planned to protect Saudi Arabia from Iraqi forces that invaded Kuwait. Saddam Heussein invaded Kuwait for its oil reserves. This triggered the entire operation. He was given a deadline to leave, but he ignored it so we crushed his forces in Kuwait. We lost only 148 soldiers compared to over 100,000 Iraqis.

    The World Wide Web was created to help share information from one country to another. It was also created to advertise for businesses. That is why almost every website has a ".com" at the end. It stands fo "commercial" meaning that company is profiting in some way by being on the internet.

    The end of the Cold War came as a shock to almost all Americans. They were born and raised in fear of Communism. Now it was suddenly over in a flash. The official end of the cold war is around the time when Russia split from the Soviet Union. They left America as the only superpower.
