  • The Great Migration

    African Americans migrated to the North and West to escape racism and to seek jobs in
    industrial cities.
  • 18th Amendment

    Its were "intoxicating liquors" were prohibited, and which were excluded from prohibition (for example, for medical and religious purposes).
  • 19th Amendment

    It prohibits any United States citizen to be denied the right to vote based on sex.
  • Emergency Quota Act

    The Act restricted the number of immigrants admitted from any country annually to 3% of the number of residents from that same country living in the United States.
  • Immigration Act 1924

    Initially the quotas were set at 2 percent of a country's foreign-born residents in the United States in 1890.
