  • Hitler Becomes Leader of Germany

    Hitler Becomes Leader of Germany
In 1932, Hidenburg, leader of Germany before Hitler, was re-elected as president but had lost a big portion of his support to the Nazi Party. To get back in touch with them, he appointed Hitler to chancellor of Germany and promised to restrain Hitler's worst tendencies and that a majority of the Cabinet would go to non-Nazis. Before Hidenburg died, Hitler convinced him to sign a decree suspending individual and civil liberties. After the death in 1934, Hitler was elected President.

The reason I picked this event during World War II because it had a huge impact on the war. this was a main factor in why the war was started and was carried on.
  • What Identified People as Jewish Continued

I chose this event because I think that no matter what religion you believe in or practice, one should be able to believe in any religion you wish to.
  • What Identified People as Jewish

In 1935, the laws for Jewish people were enforced further. It didn't matter if you thought of yourself as a "Jew" or not. If anyone had three or four Jewish grandparents, whether you believed in the religion or were against it, you were a Jew. Even if grandparents converted to Christianity, they were still defined as Jews. Some Germans that practiced Judaism or had not in years were a target for the Nazi's.
  • The Rape Of Nanking

In 1937 the Japanese Army forces murdered hundreds of thousands of Chinese soldiers and civilians in the city of Nanking. As many as 20,000 to 80,000 women were sexually assaulted. The capital was left in ruins and took decades for the city and the people to recover from the horrific attacks. I picked this event because it shows how cruel and inhuman humans can treat other people.
  • The German Air Raid on the British Isles

In the summer and fall of 1940, German and British air forces fought in the sky over the United Kingdom. It was significant a turning point for World War II and ended when Germany's Luftwaffe wasn't able to gain the advantage over Royal Air force. On September 7th, the first attack on London was a success. The second, however, was a complete fail. British fighters showed up in large numbers and shot many Germans down. Hitler then postponed the attack on the British Isles and the battle ended.
  • The German Air Raid on the British Isles Continued

This event was, in my opinion, a very big turning point in the war. It showed that even though Hitler was followed by many and had many fighting along beside him, he was still defeated by Britain that stood alone.
