World War 1 Dispute
At the start of World War 1, the United Kingdom had a few disputes with Germany and the United States. The German agents were conducting unrestricted activities against their countries interests. At the same time, the United States refused to check their Indian Seditionist movement, which was a major concern. -
British and American Forces Fight Together
The two countries fought together in numerous battles to conquer the engagements on the Western Front. Those battles include The Third Battle of Aisine, The Battle of Belleau Wood, The Second Battle of the Marne, The Battle of Amiens, The Battle of St. Quentin Canal,The 5th Battle of Ypres, and The Battle of Courtrai. -
Inter-War Years
In the Washington Naval Treaty, the United States and the United Kingdom agreed to the allocation of equal tonnage quotas. Even thought the U.S. Navy had rights to build a navy equal to the one of the British Empire, the U.S. voluntarily agreed to remain smaller. -
Korean War
During the years of 1950, 1951, 1952, and 1953, the United Kingdom joined forced with the United States. It was a part of the United Nations' plan to prevent Communism in South Korea. -
Mutual Defense Act
The United States and United Kingdom signed the U.S. -Great Britain Mutual Defense Act. This treaty allowed the U.S. to transfer nuclear secrets and material to Britain. Also, Britain could conduct underground atomic tests in the U.S., starting in 1962. -
Persian Gulf War
In August 1990, Saddam Hussein's Iraq invaded Kuwait. Because of this, Great Britain joined forces with the U.S. in a plan to force Iraq out. Hussein disreguarded their attempts so the Allies launched a 6 week air war before a ground war of 100 hours. -
9-11
After the 9-11 Al-Qaeda attacks in the United States, Great Britain once again joined the United States; this time, for the War on Terror. Together, Britain and America invaded Afghanistan in November 2001 and Iraq in 2003. -
Draft Resolution
On this day the United States and the United Kingdom created a draft resolution. The purpose of this was to govern the transfer of power to an overseeing Iraqi government. -
Defense Trade Cooperation
The United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and the United States all agreed to this treaty. It is mostly about the exportation of goods from the United States, re-exportation, software management, transfers, the community of countries involved, and other things involoving the well-being of the three countries. -
United States Nuclear Weapon Withdrawal
The withdrawal of nuclear weapons by the United States from an airbase outside of London marked the end of 50 years of nuclear weapon deployment to the U.K.
