    The Fugitive slave act was apart of the laws that referred to the "Compromise of 1850". This law was apart of the underground railroad and other stations. Abolitionists hated the law and never wanted to be apart of it. This law prohibited slave-trading and slave holding in texas.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    Kansas-Nebraska Act
    Anti-slavery supporters were angered because the two territories were going to be allowed to have slaves. The act mandated popluar soverereignty allowing settlers of a territory to decide if slaves would be allowed or not.
  • Election of 1860

    The Democrats of the north and south could not agree and each held their own conventions to nominate a runner up. The Republicans saw the dispute and saw this as an advantage and found someone (Abraham Lincoln) who could become the president.
