  • The New Deal

    The economic and political policies of FDR’s administration in the 30s. Aimed to solve the problems of the Great Depression by providing relief for the unemployed and launching efforts to stimulate economic recovery.
  • National Recovery Administration (NRA)

    An early New Deal program designed to assist industry, labor, and the unemployed through centralized planning mechanisms that monitored workers earnings and working hours to distribute work.
  • WWII

    World War II begins in Europe with Hitler's invasion of Poland.
  • Pearl Harbor

    An American naval base in Hawaii where Japanese warplanes destroyed numerous ships and caused 3,000 casualties on December 7, 1941. The attack brought the United States into WWII.
  • Executive Order No. 9066

    Order from FDR authorizing the War Department to remove Japanese “enemy aliens” to isolation internment camps. Immigrants and citizens were sent away from their homes, neighbors, schools, and businesses.
  • WWII Ends

    V-J (Victory in Japan) Day on August 15, 1945 heralded the surrender of Japan and the final end to WWII.
