Proclamation of 1763
An act issued by the British on October 7th, 1763. The act produced a boundary which prohibited Anglo-American Colonists from settling on lands aquired from the French after the French and Indian war -
Sugar Act 1764
A act issued by the British on April 5th, 1764. It retained a high duty on foreign refined sugar. -
Stamp Act of 1765
An act issued by the British that put a tax on paper products such as paper, lead, paint, etc. It was repealed in 1766. -
Townshend act 1767
An act issued by the British that put a tax on British China, paint, lead, paper and tea that is imported into the colonies. Colonist did not like the act because they did not want to pay extra for products that were impacted by this act. -
Boston Massacre
A Masscre that took place in the City of Boston, which involved Colonists throwing stuff at a British site and a group a red coat firing into a crowd, killing 3 colonists. This was considered the first casualty of the Revolution -
Tea Act
An act which put a tax on tea and made the Colonists by tea from British approved merchants and prevented them from selling their own -
Boston Tea Party
A event which Colonist dressed as Native Americans boarded a british tea ship and threw 342 chest of tea into the Boston Harbor in protest of the Tea Act. -
Intolerable Act 1774
An series of laws issued by the British to punish the Colonist after the Boston Tea Party in 1773. It made the Boston Harbor close as a result -
