    The painting, Ratification of the Peace of Münster between Spain and the Dutch Republic in the town hall of Münster, 15 May 1648, is by Gerard ter Borch, portrays the ending of both the Thirty Year's War and the Eighty Year's War. The Peace of Westphalia created religious and territorrial boundaries that remained in place until the French Revolution. There had never been a collaboration of this mangnitude in the formation of a treaty prior.
