The continental congress adopted the declaration of independence.Thomas Jefferson was the declarations main author. The declaration clearly showed the influence of enlightment thinkers. The declaration of independence was made and showed rights for North America. -
War and Peace
When the declaration of independence was written the colonies were at war with Great Britian. At first the british forces seemed to strong for them to beat. Then the french formed allies with the U.S.A. By being allies with North America, French hoped to weaken its enemy Britian.
