  • Jackie Robinson plays his first game in the MLB

    Jackie Robinson was one of the most influential and important characters during the Civil Rights Movement. Baseball was a huge part of America's culture during the 40's and 50's, as it was known as America's Pasttime. He was the first to break the color barrier and it opened the door to many other African-Americans and it helped the Civil Rights movement dramatically.
  • US Army Integrated

    This is a big event because it made it okay for black people to fight in war and die for our country, even though they were still treated unfair and were abused by the general white public, even after serving in the military.
  • Brown Vs. Board of Education

    This was one of the most important events because it proves that the "seperate but equal" policy was not true. This would go forward to help end segregation and get the ball rolling for future events.
  • Little Rock Central High School Desegregated

    The first black students were brought into the school on this day. This was after the decision on the Brown vs. Board of Education. This was significant because there was a mob of protestors when the students first attempted to get into the school on September 3rd of 1957. They had to be escorted by police and the army, directly from the President.
  • Freedom Riders

    The Freedom Riders were imprtant to the time becuase they took all of the abuse and torture that was thrown at them but stayed with their plan and went throught with it to prove a point.
  • March on Washington

    This is important because it is one of the biggest movements o the time. This would also be the place in front of the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King Jr. would give his "I Have A Dream" speech.
  • Birmingham Church Bombing

    This event was important because it was the first time the general white public said enough was enough with the killing of black people since this bombing had taken the life of 4 innocent girls.
  • Civil Rights Act

    This was very important becuase it did not solve too much but it was a start to end all segregation and discrimination that was allowed in public establishments in many different aspects.
  • Malcolm X Assassination

    This was important because Malcolm X was one of the biggest separatist and militant black spokespersons of the time.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Assassinated

    This was one of the biggest events in the Civil Rights Movement because King is one of the leaders of the time and he was one of the only leaders that had strictly peaceful ideas.
