    Jackie Robinson was the first African-American baseball player to play professionally in 1947. He was signed to the Dogdgers and was named Rookie of the Year in his first year of playing. By doing so, he broke social and racial barriers that encouraged The Civil Rights movement.

    This was a Supreme Court Case that challenged the " seperate but equal" idea set up by the Plessy Vs Ferguson case. "Separate educational facilities are inherently unheaval". This also declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional.

    This was the right of any US citizen to vote shall not be denied by reason of failure to pay any tax and gave vote to millions who were disqualified before because of poverty. The 24th amendment was passed January 23rd,1964. It was passed when LBJ was president and outlawed poll taxes.

    On September 16, 1963 an bomb went off in a Baptist church killing four black girls.The bombing was an act of terrorism by a white man against an African American Church. Protesters and police clashed and drew national attention to the misery of obtaining civil rights for African Americans. Attention was all on Birmingham and all over Civil Rights.

    This act was signed by President Johnson which prohibited discrimination because of race, religion, national origin, or gender and gave all citizens a right to public accomodations that were established the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to enforce the law This also made the federal government responsible for finding instances of discrimination, and made illegal discrimination based on race, religion, ethinic orgin, or gender.
