  • Juana's First Pregnancy

    Juana's First Pregnancy
    Juana had her first child when she was fourteen years old in the eighth grade. She had a duaghter named Nievitas. She continued to have children with the same father.
  • Juana Gets Married

    Juana Gets Married
    Juana married at the age of sixteen. She had five children with her husband but then divorced. When Juana and her ex-husband divorced, he took custody of their children, claiming Juana had abandoned them.
  • The Chain-Reaction

    Nievitas, the oldest of Juana's children, had a teen pregnancy. After the Nievitas got pregnant, Javier, Fabian, Tony, Sonya. and Jessica began to have teen pregnancies. Because she was still a teen and wanted to spend time with friends, Jessica often left her baby with Gaby (when she was eight or nine years old).
  • Gaby Was Born

    Twenty years after Juana had her fist child, Gaby was born. Juana was thirty-five. By this time, she already had grandchildren. Juana met Gaby's father while she was with her friends at a dance. Gaby's father wasn't present during most of her childhood because he had run off and started a new relationship.
  • The Big Idea

    Gaby has to think of a senior project to complete by the end of the school year. During her junior year, she thought of something out of the box to do. Gaby realized that she was stereotyped as a Latina girl that would be a teen mom just like her family. "My goal was to make my peers take teen pregnancy seriously..."
  • The Teacher's Approval

    Since this was her senior project, Gaby had to get her project approved by a teacher. The only problem was that she didn't want a lot of the teachrs knowing that she was faking a pregnancy. Some had worried that she would not be able to complete the project due to the things classmates and close friends would say about her. In September, her project was officially approved by the superintendent and the board in charge of the senior projects.
  • On the Search for a Mentor

    http://www.plannedparenthood.org/For her senior project, Gaby must have a mentor that can help her with any problems she has throughout the project. The first place Gaby went to Planned Parenthood, but they weren't able to help her. The workers from Planned Parenthood were nice enough to suggest her asking someone from the local hospital. Gaby met a lady that taught classes about pregnancy and childbirth.

ABC, NBC, CBS, Inside Edition, the Dr. Drew Show, the Ellen Degeneres Show, and MSNBC had all wanted interviews with Gaby, Juana, and Jorge. "I'm fighting against these stereotypes... because the reality is I'm not pregnant."

    The book "The Pregnancy Project" was published on January 17, 2012. It was written by Gaby Rodriguez and Jenna Glatzer. The money made from the book and the movie would be used for her family and going to a good college.
