Native americans share stories through oral tradition. They valued self-reliance. the philosphy was rationlism( it spread from Europe to North America). The Europen and North american combined there belief in the power of reason with american sence practicality. A byproduct of american rationlism was the mind-set that led to the declaration of indepedence & American revolotion. -

The sky tree
The creation of myth of Heruns. In the sky tree, a old cheif becomes sick, and must get fruit that grows at the top of the sky tree. His wife goes to Skyland to get it, and as she chops it down is falls into a hole. She must go after it or there'll be no life. All the water animals try to safe her. This story is made up of things that cannot happen. -
Purtians come to New england
Purtians land at Plymouth, MA. Puritanism is the practice and principles of the puritans. Puritans wrote plain style.( A way of writting that is simple and clear.) it also eliminayes elaborate figures of speech. They had there own way, because it was eaiser to read and understand; it was simple. Though others would write it a complex way cause it was harder to read and wirte, also understand. -

Anne Bradstreet's house burns.
After this tragic event, Anne wrote the poem "Here Follow Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House, July 10, 1666." She was very upset. All of her vauleables were burnt, and ruined. She spent many of her time there. She still cryed out to god though.
