Barthelemy Thimonnier a french tailor was the first to make a machine that had the typical hand sewing motions which made a chain stitch. Then during that time they started to try and find a more practical sewing machine for the public and not just in manufacturers. Howe was able to make a machine that was quick and easier to manuver. Then in 1846 it was patented. -
Joel Houghton invented the dishwasher which was a wooden box that water would splash on dirty dishes and there were also scrubbers inside the box to wash the dishes. It was known to be very difficult to work however, it was the first dishwasher to be patent. -
Christopher Latham Sholes invented the typewriter after five years and two patents it did not have a space bar, or a shift key. In order to print the letters on to the paper there were little hammers that went through an inked ribbon to. the paper that was on the roller to move the paper. -
Alexander Graham Bell was interested. in being able to hear one another through wires. Bell's thought process was to combine a telegram and a record player. -
Alexander Graham Bell invented the metal detector to attempt and locate a bullet that was lodged in the chest of President James Garfield.
