  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    A proclamation passed to prohibit Colonial settlement West of the Appalachian Mountains. This angered the colonists because they thought this was to keep them under strict watch of the british.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This Act was to prevent the smuggling of sugars into the colonies from France by lowering the tax for non-British goods.
  • Currency Act

    This Act prevented new currency to be made and the reissuing of the current currency, giving Britain control over the Colonies' currency system.
  • Stamp Act

    This made it that a stamp needed to be bought and placed on every document. This act was passed to pay for the soldiers at the end of the French and Indian war.
  • Quartering Act 1765

    This allowed soldiers to house in colonial buildings.
  • Declaratory Act

    This came at the same time as the repeal of the stamp act. The Act said that Parliament had the same authority to tax in America as in Britain.
  • Townshend Acts

    A series of things by Britain that taxed imports to the colonies. This caused protests in the colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    An event happened where 5 colonists were killed while the British soldiers were being harassed by a group of them. This became popular through the spread from patriots.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A protest against taxes without representation. 342 crates were dumped into the Boston harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Four Acts by Parliament in response to the colonists actions.
  • Quartering Act 1774

    This allowed royal governors to quarter British soldiers in buildings. This was applied to all the colonies.
  • Quebec Act

    This freed the catholic, French speaking people from restrictions. The Act repealed the loyalty oath.
