  • proclamation of 1763

    The act prohibited the colonist from moving further west past the Appalachian Mountains. This angered the colonist and they moved pass the mountains any way
  • Sugar Act

    This act put taxes on goods such as sugar, certain wines, and coffee. The colonist responded to this act by boycotting certain goods of Great Brittan.
  • Currency Act

    This act was passed for the British Parliament could regulate money in North America. This caused a wide variety of currency to be used to pay for different things in North America. The governments in the thirteen colonies repealed the act.
  • Stamp Act

    Required colonist to pay taxes on a stamp which was required to be used on paper and playing cards. The colonist boycotted and attacked the tax collectors.
  • Quartering Act

    This act required the colonist to house British soldiers. The colonist also had to pay for the soldier's food and drinks. The colonist did not like the soldiers because they feared they may be used against them.
  • Declaratory Act

    This act allowed Parliament to pass any law for the colonist to follow and they had to follow them. The colonist were happy that the stamp act was repealed. Some colonist did not like the declaratory act because they feared more taxes were to come.
  • Townshend Act

    This act taxed many good that were imported to North America. The colonist protested and boycotted the new taxes. They started riots some which were violent.
  • Boston Massacre

    This was a riot which during 5 colonist were killed and 6 were injured in the shooting. The aftermath of this incident was it further the hatred the colonist had for Great Brittan and caused more riots between the colonist and Great Brittan.
  • Boston Tea Party

    This was a protest put on by the colonist in which they dumped 342 chest of tea into the harbor. Many colonist feared what Great Brittan would do to the colonist.
  • Intolerable Acts

    This acts were passed due to the Boston tea party protest. This stated that the colonist had to pay for the lost tea until then the Boston Harbor will not be opened. Stopped free elections of town officials. They also moved judicial authority to Brittan and British judges for Massachusetts. This lead to the colonist having the first Continental congress.
  • Quartering Act of 1774

    This expanded the hoses for British soldiers to not only Barracks but also to empty houses and barns. The colonist did not show anger for this act.
  • Quebec Act

    This act gave French Canadians religious freedom. The colonist feared that the British would get more control/power over the thirteen colonies.
