The Proclamation of 1763 was put into place so that the colonists could not purchase lands and settle west of the Appalachians. This was put into place after the French and Indian War, hoping to keep peace with the Native Americans. Along with the written proclamation, the British sent 10,000 troops to the colonies to keep them out of the Native Americans territory. The colonists did not like this because it didn't allow them to settle into that land.

The Sugar Act was put in place to impose taxes and charges against traded goods for the colonies. Some of the good that were taxed were wines, molasses, coffee, and other similar goods. The colonists didn't approve of this because the price of all goods were increased and made it hard for them to live.

The Currency Act was put into place so that everything, like taxes and payments, had to be in British currency. They helped the British Government to regulate money in the colonies, stopping them from having their own currency. The colonies needed their own currency, leaving them at a disadvantage and struggle with following the currency correctly.

The Stamp Act was put into place after the French and Indian wars. Great Britain was in deep debt and needed funding for the country and the military. Heavy taxes were placed on the colonies for goods such as legal documents, dice, bills, and many other things. This made it incredibly hard for the colonists to live easily due to the struggle for money.

The Quartering Act of 1765 required the colonists to house any British soldiers that were within the colonies. The colonists would have to tend to any soldiers in public spaces, not in private homes, regardless of whether they wanted to or not. This was unfair for the colonists since they were forced to house the soldiers.

The Declaratory Act enforced the British governments' right to have control over the colonies. This Act gave them the right to make any laws for or regarding the colonies. This was unfair to the colonies because it gave them no representation at all.

The Townshend Act was another act that was put into place so that the British could gain more money. The act placed taxes on more of the goods from the colonies such as glass, lead, and tea. This caused the colonies to struggle with money and funding due to the prices of goods.

The Boston Massacre was an event that left five of colonists dead, all shot by British soldiers. The soldiers were being taunted by the colonists due to the unfair taxes that were placed upon the colonies. The situation had escalated, causing the soldiers to shoot and kill five of the colonists, leaving them fearful of their lives.

The Boston Tea Party was an act of rebellion against the British. The colonists saw the Tea Act as another example of taxation without representation, and wanted to fight back against it. A group called the Sons of Liberty boarded British ships and dumped tea from them. It was a mixed reaction with the colonies, some supporting, some worried about the impact of it all.

The Intolerable Acts, also known as the Coercive Acts, were put into place after the Boston Tea Party as punishment. The acts put into place were the Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, and The Quartering Act of 1774. The colonists were very upset and opposed to these acts, feeling as though it attacked their rights and freedoms.

The Quartering Act of 1774 was very similar to the Quartering Act of 1765. The rules were the same - having to house soldiers - but this time, soldiers were required to be in private homes if not anywhere else. This was unfair to the colonists and left them upset.

The Quebec Act expanded the British's territory in Canada, in the area of Quebec specific. This land that the British gained was taken over from France. The colonists were opposed to this because it didn't allow them to settle in that land and allowed Catholics to take office, which was something they didn't like.
