Andrew Young was a major leader in the civil rights movement. He worked with Martin Luther King Jr. He later became a member of congress and the mayor of Atlanta.

Benjamin Mays was an African American who was most known for being the president of a college in Atlanta for a long time, called Morehouse College. He also worked closely with Martin Luther King Jr as a mentor. Mays served as a leader in many big organizations NAACP and the YMCA.

The 3 Governor Race was the 40 year controversy over who would be the new governor: Ellis Arnall, Herman Talmage, or Eugene Talmage. When it came time to vote for governor Eugene won but his fans thought he would die of age, so they secretly voted for his son Herman. Eugene won but died before he got inaugurated so the lieutenant governor Ellis Arnall was in power, however Herman won the majority of the votes.

Herman Talmadge was the son of Eugene Talmadge and he served as governor for a little in 1947, as well as later from 1948-1954. When first elected as governor his father won, but died before inauguratior. Herman's name was not on the ballot but Georgians but his name in the "others" section for voting.

The Albany Movement was a mass-movement to try to desegregate and entire city. This mass-movement resulted in the jailing of 1,000+ African Americans.

I Had A Dream SpeechThe March on Washington was an event in which people (mostly colored) stormed Washington to protest for jobs and freedom. Martin Luther King Jr also gave his "I had a dream" speech there.

The civil rights act banned descrimination of people based on race, religions, origin, etc. Later congress added to this act by helping Colored people gain more rights.
