In 1956 Kuhn published his first book titled "The Copernican Revolution." In this book, he studied the development of heliocentric theory of the solar system during the Renaissance.

In 1961, Kuhn became a full professor at the University of California where he became a teacher of the history of science in the philosophy department.

In 1962, Khun published what is considered to be his most prestigious work, "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" which is considered to be one of the most of both history and philosophy that was written in the 20th century. It is also recognized as one of the most cited academic books of all times.

In 1977 Khun published a collection of essay's titled "The Essential Tension." And in 1978 he published a technical study titled "Black-Body Theory and the Quantum Discontinuity."

On 06 June 1996 Thomas Khun died in Cambridge, Mass. of lung cancer.
