Thea was born to single, young, homeless mother Samantha -
Thea enters Foster Care
Police show up to Thea's residence after a neighbor reports domestic violence. Samantha is arrested with her boyfriend, both are dunk and high on heroine. CPS takes Thea into custody. Thea has been severely neglect and malnourished. In Erikson's first stage, trust vs mistrust, the crises is if an infant is loved and well cared for they will learn that the world is a place that need not be feared, if they are not well cared for they will learn that the world and people in it cannot be trusted. -
Thea's removed from her 8th foster home
Thea's foster mom wakes her up by yelling and hitting her while ripping off her wet clothes. She continues to yell and tells Thea that she doesn't want her anymore and she's being picked up to go to a new home. Thea is confused and scared, she didn't mean to wet the bed and thinks she is bad. In Erikson's second stage, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, if given the room to make choices a toddler develops a healthy sense of self, with excessive punishment a sense of shame and doubt develop. -
Thea's Adopted
After 17 different foster homes Thea is adopted by two white parents that look nothing like her, she has a new sister 2 years younger than her. She begins therapy, but years of trauma have taken their toll on her. -
Thea Runs away from home
Despite therapy, Thea doesn't know who she is, she struggles in school and has no friends, she doesn't look like her family and doesn't feel like she belongs anywhere. Thea decides she has had enough and runs away and drops out of school. In Erikson's fifth stage, identity vs. identity confusion, adolescents discover who they are, what they are capable of, and where their place in the world is. If they accomplish this they have a sense of identity, if not, identity confusion occurs. -
Thea is arrested
Thea uses heroine to escape the nightmares that haunt her. She squats in abandoned buildings on cold nights, and earns money to pay for drugs by selling her body. She has no friends and bounces around from man to man. She is arrested one night after soliciting an officer, she's released the next day. In Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy vs. isolation, the crises is achieving intimacy by making oneself vulnerable and committing to a long term relationship, or failing to do so and becoming isolated. -
Death
Cause of death is drug overdose.
