In the beginning of the story Mrs. Foster talks about how she hates being late. while at the same time she is waiting for husband to get ready so she can get into their car outside and go to the airport.

Mr. and Mrs. Foster finally get to the airport after Mr. Foster stalls once they get there Mr. Foster leaves and Mrs. Foster finds out that the flight in canceled due to the weather.

When Mrs. Foster tells her husband that she plans to go to Paris he says that he isn't going. this then continues the idea that he is a mean and bad husband.

In the begging of the story when the Narrator introduces the Mr. Foster they say that he looks like a squirrel whenever his wife says something to make him mad he turns his body like a squirrel at her.

Mr. Foster gives Mrs. Foster a comb as a gift she then proceeds to tell him that he gives combs to everyone as gifts. he also drops the comb when getting out of the car to go back into the house.

When Mrs. Foster tries to back into the house she realize that the door is locked but she doesn't realize that once she leaves she will never see her husband again.

Mrs. Foster goes to Paris for 6 weeks to visit her Grandchildren she has such a great time and has a sense of freedom from her husband

Her husband Mr. Foster plans on going to the club the whole time she is in Paris so she thinks that he is okay and he is just at the club

When Mrs. Foster comes home she realizes that the house smells and that the elevator is Broken. the thought is that her husband died in the elevator when she was on the trip.

The title of the story comes into play with the implied idea that Mr. Foster died in the elevator. the thought is that the Husband went to heaven when he died.
