  • Corregidor Surrendered

    Although troops were at the March there was troops of Corregidor at Manila Bay. The Philippines had fallen to the Japanese.
  • Battle of the Coral Sea

    The Japanese thought they could pass sefly, but the US had coders to decode what they were saying. The one message that was decoded was that allerted the US that they were going to attack New Guinea. Then the US meet the Japanese.
  • MacArthur Returns

    As Admiral Nimitz was hopping accross the pacific General Douglas MacArthur's troops begain their own campaign. Their troops managed to capture three islands and make the japanese surrender in those areas.

    There were nearly 78,000 prisoners of war who were forced to march.They marched sick, exhausted, and starving for 65 miles to a Japanese prison camp. On the way there was about 10,000 troops died.
  • Doolittle Raid on Tokyo

    After the US lost the philippines they were looking for another way to attack. One suggested that they use B-25 bombers but they were not close enough. So they headed closer to the pacific and fired.
  • Battle of Midway

    Admiral Nimitz ordered carriers to take positions up near Midway, unaware they were heading into an ambush. The Japanese ran into a blizzard of antiaircraft fire. The Japanese were ready for another attack. This was a turining point for the war the Japanese Navy lost 4 carriers and badly weaked their Navy.
  • Island Hopping

    The central pacific Posed a problem for their island hopping campagin. The coarl reef caused massive problem with bording the islands.
  • Mariana Islands

    The US wanted to use the Marines as a base for a new heavy bomber, the B-29 Superfortress. This could fly any further then any other plane in the world. When the US bombed the three islands(Saipan, Tinian, and Guam) they started to bomb Japan.
  • Kamikaze

    These were attacks used by the Japanese that they would dive their own planes into US ships. This caused a great challange for the US but they had more ships.
  • Japanese Surender

    More then 80,000 troops were kileed from the Japanese army. Fewer then 1,000 surendered. More then 100,000 filipino civilians died.
