    Mukden Incident (Manchurian Incident)
    The Mukden Incident was a conflict that leads to the start of the Second Sino-Japanese war. Where a section of the railroad owned by Japan was bombed supposedly by Chinese; and used the excuse to invade Manchuria.     Marco Polo Bridge Incident (Lugou Bridge)
    The MPB Incident started the Second Sino-Japnese War. Japan wanted to implement new military training exercises near Beijing. Without letting China know the Japanese army began the exercises; leading them to believe the city was under attack when a Japanese private went missing. Japan commenced an investigation to look for the private, but the Chinese denied it. Both sides brought more troops and the incident began.     The battle of Shanghai
    This was the first official battle between Japanese and Chinese armies. It was a result of the Marco Polo Bridge Incident that led to full-scale war. The resentment felt between both countries escalated;
    the battle lasted for 3 months and while Japan had the man and air power the Chinese couldn't keep up. With Japan winning the battle due to the sheer manpower, Japnese 10th and 16th divisions, that came in to put the nail in the coffin.

    The Second Sino-Japanese War

    The purpose of my timeline is to show the audience battles fought throughout the second Sino-Japanese war. How it first started and how it ended is an important aspect of the war because it depicts the animosity growing between the two countries. Furthermore, the battles between the time frame represent the tide of the war during different stages of the war. The timeline is a vague outline of the war not including all events, but only major ones throughout the years.
  • The Battle of Nanjing (Nanking)

    The Battle of Nanjing (Nanking)
    Japanese troops entered Nanjing, the capital of China, to take over the part of the country. They failed to get the Chinese army to surrender so they went with missiles to attack China. The city went under Japanese control on 12, Dec 1938 after attacking within multiple directions. While the battle also entailed the raping of Nanking which involved the mutilation of thousands of Japanese soldiers including their deaths.

  • The Battles of Changsha

    The Battles of Changsha
    During the battles of Changsha Japan tried to take over the city repeatedly trying 4 times before losing. The third battle of Changsha can count as the first Chinese offensive attack on Japan. Changsha didn't fall to the Japanese army unlike Nanjing and Shanghai but was difficult to defend their stronghold in the city.   • The Battle of Zaoyang–Yichang

    The Battle of Zaoyang–Yichang
    This battle entailed the Chinese moving to a different city that would allow for a stronger position against Japan. In addition, the Japanese army moved because they wanted to end the war quickly although this tactical movement didn't really help. The Chinese were able to repel the Japanese attacks during the conflict.

  • The Battle of Shanggao

    The Battle of Shanggao
    The Japanese army decided to attack the 19th Chinese squad headquarters. Both sides fought back and forth including airstrikes and tank combats. But the Japanese suffered heavy losses and tactically retreated. During this battle, the Chinese were able to successfully obtain military resources that aided them.     The Battle of Yenangyaung
    This battle of Yenangyaung was a decisive win for the Chinese imperial army. Furthermore, they even saved thousands of British soldiers from the Japanese encirclement during this battle.

    Battle of Northern Burma and Western Yunnan
    There were a lot of battles contained within the specific region lasing half a year. Both China and the allied forces teamed up with each other to fight against Japan stronghold over the cities located within the region. The battle ended with the Victory of China and the allied forces.

  • Operation Ichi-Go (operation number one)

    Operation Ichi-Go (operation number one)
    Operation Ichi-Go was a series of battles consisting of 3 main ones the battle of Central Henan, Changheng, and Guilin-Liuzhou. There were 2 main goals the Chinese wanted to accomplish during this campaign; one to open the land route Indochina and capture air bases in southeast China.

  • The War Ends

    The War Ends
    With the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan was dealt a devastating blow. The Chinese were able to win the second Sino-Japanese war with the help of allied forces and the USA. Furthermore, Russia counting to keep attacking the Kwantung Army in Manchuria. Japan official surrender to the Allies on September 2, 1945.
