    The Treaty of Versailles
    After the end of World War 1, the allied powers set up a treaty to create peace. However, they gave Germany certain punishments like reparations due to blaming them for the war.
  • Hitler took control of Germany

    Hitler took control of Germany
    Even though the Treaty of Versailles was in place, Hitler took over Germany and began to rebuild the army, even though it was against the Treaty of Versailles. He became a very feared leader by the other European countries.
  • Invasion of Rhineland

    Invasion of Rhineland
    Hitler sent Nazi troops into Rhineland. This German territory is right near France. France feared the attacking of Hitler
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss
    Hitler took over his homeland of Austria and added it to the German Empire. He believed Austria and Germany should be one due to the Austrian and German cultures being very similar and both countries spoke German. He forced the Austrian government to surrender the country to him.
  • Munich Pact

    Munich Pact
    This was an agreement between Britain/ France and Hitler. Britain and France agreed to sacrifice Czechoslovakia in return for him not being able to invade other European countries
  • Nazi- Soviet Pact

    Nazi- Soviet Pact
    Hitler feared Stalin and the Soviet Union, therefore he signed a military alliance making them allies with Stalin. Therefore, neither could invade each others countries.
  • Invasion of Poland/ Start of WW2

    Invasion of Poland/ Start of WW2
    Hitler invaded Poland, which was home to 3 million Jewish civilians. This was against the League of Nations and it had broke the Munich Pact. Therefore Britain and France declared war on Germany which had started World War Two
