    In Common Sense Thomas Paine writes about the many injustices performed by the British government and how they are not to be forgiven for robbing the colonies of freedom. These injustices were most likely taken into consideration when writing the constitution.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    This document was written to declare the colonies separation from Great Britain. It mentions how the King is too powerful and how he needs to be kept in check, as well as mentioning the rights of the people and how they should be upheld. Enforcements of rights and keeping the government in check were both part of the constitution.

    Throughout the 1780's many events transpired where the government had proven ineffective, these were all issues dealing with personal feeling affecting congress, lack of punishments, and many politicians only caring about personal gain. The constitution was adjusted to help combat these issues.
