    Alexander Grahm Bell called his assistant with the first phone call ever. Bell's invention of the Telephone was now a complete sucess. It changed humanity forever, as communication and inventions were now focused on improving this invention. The Telephone replaced the telegraph. The first phone was made by using the soundwaves from the telegraph and expanding on that.

    The construction of telephone lines was now something regular, as telephones became more and more common.
  • The First Telephone Company (ATT(Bell))

    The First Telephone Company  (ATT(Bell))
    Bell created the first phone company, the American Telephone and Telegraph Company, or as it is known today, AT&T. It was not officially initiated until 1885.
  • Phone Books

    The Phonebook was created in 1878. Now people could call more people. This lead to Yellow Pages.

    The Company of ATT is now initiated. Bell's company lead to more and more usage of the telephone.

    Reuben H. Donelly produces the first Yellow Pages. Yellow Pages are significant, as they are still used today.

    The "Strowger Switch" was a switch on phones invented by Strowger. It lead to the rotary phone.

    The first coin operated phone was now avaiable for use and patented in 1889. This invention was very important, because now people could use a phone that they did not have to buy.

    One of Strowger's associates invents the rotary dial for phones. This was a mjaor change in phones, as a new design was created. This was very important becasue it lead to more and more changes on the phone.

    The first touch-tone phones were invented. Now, instead of roatation and pulses, a person could hear a sound emitting from the phone every time they pressed a button. Thias lead to more and more changes to the phone. Also, people could hear which numbers they were inputting.

    Techology Revolution- The Rapid Change of Phones

    The Technology Revolution changed the phone in various ways. The phone got slimmer and sleeker, and went from being made from plastic to metal and glass. Soon enough, screens and texting were introduced. Also, games could be played and the internet could be acessed on someone's phones. Also music was also available on online stores and was able to be downloaded on to phones. The phone was changed for easier use, and everybody uses them for communication.
  • The Cordless Phone

    In the 1970's, the cordless phone was invented, and in 1986, the FCC made it possible for a phone to have a bigger range. This change to cordless sparked a whole new change in phones. It lead to the phones we have to tady, that are also cordless.
  • Caller ID

    This invention was from Carolyn Doughty of Bell Labs. This was very significant, and people appreciate Caller ID all over the world.
  • The FCC Increases Range

    The range of 47-49 MHz in 1996 was changed to 900 MHz. This was important as it was a great increase in range.
  • Digital Cordless Phones

    This increased phone security. It was released with the digital cordless phone, after it weas created.
  • FCC Grants Increase in Range

    In increase in range to 2.4 GHz is granted by the FCC. This increased phone usage.

    The last range increase up until now, is 5.8 gigahertz. This is a large increase, and increased phone usage to more.
